(28.11.2008) First TEN-T PROJECT near completion
With project closure planed at 31st December 2008, the completion of the first TEN-T project on Airport Bratislava draws near. The beginning of the project dates back to 2004 when EU Commission granted financial aid for project of common interest in the filed of the trans-European infrastructure networks and in the framework of annual transport programming (TEN-T). Reflecting its nature and objectives, the project had been titled “Study on the expansion capacities of Bratislava Airport taking into account the laws and regulations of the European Union as well as heightened security demands of the European Union” (2004-SK-92801-S). The budget allocated to the project had totaled to €2.2 million, out of which 50% has been co-financed by the European Union’s TEN-T programme. Being studies-oriented, the project has incorporated the following main areas:
- Traffic forecast of passengers and freight
- Development of a security concept
- Development of a concept for freight facilities
- Feasibility study of an airport terminal simulation model
- Planning of structural measures
The project, financed equally by the Airport Bratislava and the Commission (in terms of Community financial aid), has been imperative as the needed first step towards securing the airport’s further development. In this way, Airport Bratislava will be able to grow and accurately address the issues and needs tied to its future development. Here, customer satisfaction is of main concern and the project’s deliverables have already been providing means of improving the airport’s ongoing effort to better serve its customer base.
