Development phases structure

A sophisticated gateway into Slovakia with a modern look, a pleasant and customer-oriented environment, comfort and many other positive qualities - that is the new terminal for the travelling public at Bratislava airport in 2012.

The reconstruction development itself is divided into 3 phases:

Phase 0
The basis for Phase 0 is the new transport solution in the approach area, the moving of the lighting columns at the apron area and relocation of the collector. The works began with the handover of the construction site on 18th September 2008 and will run until March 2009. The goal for the communications construction is to divert public transport from the approach area and to direct it in a way which will not obstruct the launched terminal construction and vice versa. The built communications will be part of the final transport solution in the front of the terminal area. The relocation of the lighting columns into the area created by the future construction of the terminal will provide the airport with a new and more modern solution to the lighting of the airport as well as be effectively used when the aircrafts change from halting at diagonal parking drive-through positions to perpendicular NOSE-IN positions. Another necessary construction site preparation move includes the relocation of the power collector, as the existing collector currently stands in the place of the construction of the new terminal.
Phase 1
The first phase of the investment is focused on building the new section of the departures terminal in the space between terminal A and the general aviation terminal (GAT), estimated to be completed by April 2010. Part of the plan is the completion of the approach and exits roads in the foreground area, i.e. in the public area in front of the terminal and finally the building of the extended boarding bridges and their connection to terminal B.
Phase 2
After the finalisation and launch of the reconstructed departures terminal, a near-complete demolition of the existing departures terminal A will be carried out during the second phase of the construction in 2011 and 2012 and a complete reconstruction will take place. Other features of the second phase are the building of adjacent roads and a partial reconstruction of terminal B.
After the final completion in March 2012, a new compact airport complex will be in place with an annual capacity of 5 million passengers. The number of handled passengers at peak hours will increase from 920 to 1500 handled passengers.
