(21.12.2007) Today the Bratislava Airport has welcomed its two-millionth passenger
The regular morning flight of the airline operator SkyEurope from Prague has brought to the M.R Štefánika Airport its two-millionth passenger transported in 2007
Today, at 9.10 a.m., the aircraft of the airline operator SkyEurope Airlines from Prague, which carried on its board an unaware passenger Monika Rigóciová from Nitra, has arrived at the airport Letisko M.R. Štefánika – Airport Bratislava, a.s. (BTS). Exactly this young lady became the two-millionth passenger that has passed through the gates of the Bratislava Airport in this year. Since in 2006 there were 1 937 642 passengers that have passed through the airport, the year 2007 will be recorded again in the airport's history as the year, which even in spite of negative forecasts on the growth of the number of transported passengers, will end with an increase rate of approximately 3 %.
However, since she had travelled with her father, Tomáš Rigóci, the top management of the airport as well as the airline operator have operatively decided, that they would reward the amiable pair together. The airport and airline operator representatives: the member of the Board of Directors of the Bratislava Airport, Mr. František Stolárik and Mr. Jason Bitter, the Director General of the air carrier SkyEurope Airlines, have already been awaiting the surprised pair in the arrival terminal with a large bunch of flowers and of course with gifts – a set of baggage. The most significant airline operator at the Bratislava Airport has handed over to Monika and Tomáš 24 one-way air tickets, that means one ticket for each month for each of them – which represents one year of flying.
"I am glad to be able to welcome at our airport a passenger with such historically highest number of boarding card right now, in this pre-Christmas time", said in his brief speech Mr. František Stolárik, member of the Board of Directors. "We consider the fact that it concerns a pair of people to be a symbol – after all it concerns two million of passengers, a pair represents likewise a symbol of a perspective, and I am convinced that there will be at least twice as much passengers – travelling whether in pursuit of their job, entertainment or recreation, flying from our airport within two years."
Of course the SkyEurope has also joined the cordial congratulations to Monika and Tomáš: "We consider it as an important thing, that it was exactly the SkyEurope, being the largest domestic air carrier, who has brought a two-millionth passenger by a new and successful airline from Prague to Bratislava," said Mr. Jason Bitter, the Director General of the SkyEurope Airlines. So the Rigóci family from Nitra will thus find under the Christmas tree, in addition to the traditional presents, also such ones that will allow them to utilise the advantages of airline connection from the Bratislava Airport at least one year for each of them.
